Animal Quarantine procedure for arriving passengers
If you carry any animal ·animal product or have visited a livestock farm, you must fill out the 'Customs declaration' form provided by the customs office and present it to the animal quarantine officer for inspection to prevent the incursion of animal disease/livestock epidemic into Korea.

If you have visited a livestock farm abroad, please do not visit domestic livestock farm nor contact animals after arriving in Korea.

Certificate issued by : Quarantine certificate : issued by the responsible government agency (e.g.; Official Veterinary Services) of the country of export

Rabies vaccination certificate, Health certificate : issued by veterinary clinic : 由临床兽医签发

  • Number of animals allowed to be imported without advance notification : 4 animals or less
  • Additional Certification is required to import cats from Australia and cats & dogs from Malaysia.

Other pets (Bird, Rabbit, Hamster, Ferret etc.)

  • Required Documents : 'Quarantine certificate' which meet the Korean ‘Import Health Requirement' issued by the responsible government agency (e.g. Official Veterinary Services) of the country of export.
  • Quarantine period : 5 days (For birds; less than 5 days)

2. Animal products to be declared

Meat including beef, pork, lamb, chicken

Meat products including ham, sausage, jerky, soy boiled beef/pork, boiled meat, canned food

Animal based products including young antlers of a deer, bones and dried blood

Egg products including eggs, albumen and egg powder

Dairy products including milk, cheese and butter

Carry-on animal products may be eligible for release only after official veterinary inspection if they originate in Import-permission countries/regions and be accompanied by the 'Quarantine certificate' which meet the Korean ‘Import Health Requirement' issued by the responsible government agency (e.g. Official Veterinary Services) of the country of export. Import-prohibition countries/regions

It is prohibited to bring livestock goods into Korea from countries/regions where livestock epidemic outbreaks or related cases exist, such as Foot and Mouth Disease or Avian Influenza cases, etc.

If you fail to declare any animal or animal product, you will be fined up to 5 million won
