  • Airports are evolving from mere transportation facilities, into large commercial enterprises with high economic value added from logistics, tourism and service industries among others. This is why many countries have focused their priorities on developing their airports; treating airports as a national strategic business. Incheon Airport, being a tourism and business hub of Northeast Asia is set to carry forward, plans for the Airport City development project.
  • International Business Center - I, Golf course (the intended 5th runway area) and other projects are under construction as part of the Airport City development. IBC - I 2nd phase, IBC - II and the south water basin (Water Park) are being developed as core projects. This project is expected to contribute to new airline demand and to further develop infrastructure in areas surrounding the airport.

“IBC-I 2nd Phase” Development Project

IBC - I 2nd phase, located near the passenger terminal is the expanded area from IBC - I and will be connected to the airport transportation center by Maglev (magnetic levitation) train.

IBC- Ⅰ 2nd phase Land Use Plan
  • Location and Land Area : South of passenger terminal, IBC-Ⅰ 2nd phase area, 336,000㎡
  • Development Concept : Reinforce airport support functions and to promote new airline demand.
  • Functions : Large scale shopping centers, hotels, convention centers, medical facilities and other businesses.
  • Status

    Notice for development plan in accordance with the New Airport Construction Act in Seoul metropolitan area. (Dec. 31, 2001)

    Agreement on a contract with PARADISE SEGASAMMY Co. Ltd.

    Construction will be completed & operation will start in 2016

“IBC - II” Development Project

Promoting new airline demand and playing a leading role to attract foreign tourists by developing an integrated public entertainment resort while utilizing the accessibility of the airport.

IBC - Ⅱ Area Land Use Plan
  • Location and Land Area : Northwest of airport 4,775,000㎡ (including North Water Basin 1,501,000㎡)
  • Development Concept : World class entertainment resort for leisure, shopping and other businesses.
  • Functions : Entertainment hotel, leisure & shopping facilities and other businesses.
  • Status

    - Notice for development plan in accordance with the New Airport Construction Act in Seoul
      metropolitan area (June 30th, 2009)
    - Notice for development plan in accordance with the Special Act for the Free Economic
      Zone (July 7, 2010)
    - Completed site preparations; viewing prospective investors.

“South Water Basin” Development Project

Develop the south water basin area in connection with Water park 1st phase, which is under construction, where airport railroad and magnetic levitation train stations will be located

  • Location and Land Area : North end of the south water basin, covering 151,000㎡. (Near the water basin area 1,169,000㎡)
  • Development Concept : Aquatic leisure facilities in the south water basin; train transit development.
  • Aquatic sports, commercial facilities and businesses.
  • Status

    - Notice for development plan in accordance with the New Airport Construction Act in Seoul metropolitan area. (June 30th, 2009)
    - 1st phase of the Boat racing training center (97,000㎡) in operation by Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) since April
       2011.
    - 2nd phase of hotels (54,000㎡) is under development(to open in 2014).
