Incheon International Airport has been operating the Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Zone since September 2004, promoting Korean traditional culture to a global audience of world travelers. In 2008, the number of visitors to the Zone exceeded 100,000, indicating the popularity of this key airport attraction. It is located near Gate 31 in Duty-Free Arcade on the 3rd floor of the Passenger Terminal.
Along with the existing location in the West Wing, Incheon Airport has added another Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Zone near Gate 24 in the East Wing as part of the airport’s recent 2nd Grand Opening. At the Zone, visitors can learn how to make traditional artifacts such as pencil cases, fans, and “lucky bags” from the resident faculty of the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, and then take these items back home with them.
Guests can also enjoy traditional performances including masque dances and twelve-stringed Korean harp recitals on stage at the Zone. Admission is free for all departing and transfer passengers at Incheon International Airport.
