Personal Information Protection Policy

  • Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) collects, retains and processes all personal data in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
    The Personal Information Protection Act prescribes general norms for handling personal data. IIAC will handle personal data to be collected, retained and processed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations to perform its public service in a proper manner and protect the rights and interests of users. Also, IIAC respects the rights and interests of users, such as the right to access, correct, delete, suspend the processing of such personal data retained in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. Users may file an administrative appeal in accordance with the Administrative Appeals Act against the infringement of their rights and interests in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
    IIAC establishes and discloses the following privacy policy so that personal data as well as the rights and interests of data subjects are protected and the complaints of users related to personal data can be smoothly handled. Where the privacy policy is amended, IIAC will notify such fact through its website (or individually).

  • Article 5 (Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives, and the Exercise Thereof) 1. A data subject (referring to a legal representative in the case of a minor under 14 years of age) may exercise at any time a right related to the protection of personal data, which falls any of the following subparagraphs: 1. A right to request access to personal data.
    2. A right to request correction of personal data.
    3. A right to request deletion of personal data.
    4. A right to request suspension of processing personal data.     2. A right prescribed by paragraph 1 may be exercised by filling out the Attached Form 8 of the Notification of Method for Processing Personal Data and then sending the same by letter, fax, etc. for immediate action.

    3. Where a data subject requests to correct or delete error, etc. of personal data, IIAC shall not use or provide personal data before the correction or deletion is completed.

    4. A right prescribed by paragraph 1 may be exercised through a legal representative, agent, etc. of the data subject. In such cases, a power of attorney under the Attached Form 11 of the Notification of Method for Processing Personal Data shall be submitted.

    5. Request access to personal data: A request for access to any personal data file retained by IIAC may be made pursuant to Article 35 (Access to Personal Data) of the Personal Information Protection Act. IIAC may limit access pursuant to Article 35(4) of the Act, when being requested to access personal data 1. Where access is prohibited or limited by law;
    2. Where access may cause damage to the life or body of any other person, or unjustified infringement of property and other interests of any other person;
    3. Where a public institution has grave difficulties in performing any of the following duties:
    (a) Imposition, collection or refund of taxes;
    (b) Evaluation of academic achievements or admission affairs at the schools of each level established under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the Higher Education Act, lifelong educational facilities established under the Lifelong Education Act, and other higher educational institutions established under other laws;
    (c) Testing and qualification examination regarding academic competence, technical capability and employment;
    (d) Ongoing evaluation or decision-making in relation to compensation or grant assessment;
    (e) Ongoing audit and examination under other laws.     6. Request suspension of processing personal data; A request to suspend the processing of personal data file retained by IIAC may be made pursuant to Article 37 (Suspension of Processing Personal Data) of the Personal Information Protection Act. IIAC may reject the request to suspend the processing pursuant to Article 37(2) of the Act, when being requested to suspend the processing of personal data. 1. Where special provisions in other laws so require or it is inevitable to observe legal obligations;
    2. Where access may cause damage to the life or body of any other person, or unjustified infringement of property and other interests of any other person;
    3. Where a public institution cannot perform its duties as prescribed by other laws without processing the personal data;
    4. Where it is impracticable to perform a contract, such as the provision of services as agreed upon with a data subject without processing the personal data, and the data subject has not clearly expressed the desire to terminate the agreement.     7. Where other laws and regulations specify personal data to be collected, a request to delete personal data may not be made.

    8. Where a data subject requests to access, correct, delete or suspend the processing of personal data, IIAC shall confirm whether the data subject himself/herself or his/her representative makes the request.

  • Article 6 (Destruction of Personal Data) 1. IIAC shall immediately destroy personal data wherein personal data becomes unnecessary owing to the expiry of the retention period, attainment of the purpose of processing, etc. (no later than five days from an expiration date of the retention period).
    2. Where IIAC shall continue to retain personal data pursuant to other laws and regulations notwithstanding the fact that a retention period is expired or a purpose of processing is attained, personal data (or personal data file) shall be moved to a separate database or stored in a different storage place.
    3. The procedures and methods of destruction shall be as follows: 1. Destruction procedures IIAC processes unnecessary personal data and personal data file in pursuant to the policy and procedures of an officer by field. 2. Destruction methods Personal data file processed by IIAC uses technical methods with which the information in a format of electronic file cannot be reproduced. Personal data printed on paper shall be shredded or incinerated.
  • Article 7 (Measure to Ensure Safety of Personal Data) 1. IIAC takes the following technical, managerial or physical measures required to secure the safety pursuant to Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act: 1. To establish and implement an internal management plan IIAC establishes and implements an internal management plan pursuant to its internal management policy.
    2. To minimize and train a personal data manager IIAC manages personal data by designating and minimizing a manager who handles personal data.
    3. To limit access to personal data IIAC takes measures required to control access to personal data by assigning, changing or canceling an access privilege to database system that processes personal data.
    4. To preserve access records and prevent forgery or alteration thereof IIAC preserves and manages records on access to the personal data processing system (web log, summary information, etc.) for 1 or 2 years at the least. Also, IIAC uses a security function so that the access records shall not be forged, altered, lost or stolen.
    5. To encrypt personal data Users' personal data is stored and managed after being encrypted. Also, separate security functions are used, such as to encrypt important data when storing and transmitting them.
    6. Technical measure against hacking, etc. IIAC is performing the followings to prevent personal data from being leaked and damaged by hacking, computer virus, etc.: to install a security program; to update and inspect the security program on a periodic basis; to install a system in a restricted area; and to monitor the system technically and physically. Also, the monitoring of network traffic detects an attempt to modify personal data without permission, etc.
    7. To control access by unauthorized person IIAC is keeping, in a physical storage place, the personal data system that contains personal data and establishing and operating the procedures for controlling an access thereto.
  • Article 8 (Installation, Operation and Denial of Automatic Personal Data Collection Device) 1. IIAC's personal data processing system uses "cookies" that save and import used data from time to time to provide users with individualized and customized services.
    2. A cookie is a small piece of information that is transmitted to a browser in a computer of a user by a server (http) that is used to operate a website, and the cookies are saved in a hard disk of the computer. 1. Purpose of use of cookies: Cookies are used to provide users with information optimized by understanding the followings in relation to each service and website visited by users: how to visit and use; statistics; secured access, etc.
    2. Installation, operation and denial of cookies: It may be denied to save the cookies by setting the relevant options under Tools > Internet options > Privacy settings at the top of web browser menu.
    3. Where it is denied to save cookies, it may be difficult to use customized services.
