The world's first directly operated lounge of Oneworld, one of the three major global airline alliances, is opening at Incheon Airport.

□ Despite not having a member airline from Oneworld, the world's first Oneworld lounge opens at Incheon Airport, reaffirming Incheon Airport's hub competitiveness.
□ Incheon Airport now possesses lounges for all three major global airline alliances (SkyTeam, Star Alliance, Oneworld), providing a higher level of passenger services in comparison to competing airports.

Incheon Airport welcomes the opening of the world's first directly operated lounge by Oneworld, one of the three major global airline alliances. Incheon International Airport Corporation (CEO Hak-Jae Lee) announced the opening event of the first Oneworld lounge located in Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport(January 20th).

The event was attended by Oneworld Vice President Gerhard Girkinger, Malaysia Airlines CEO Izham Ismail, Cathay Pacific CCO Lavina Lau, and Incheon International Airport Corporation Terminal Operations Director Hong-Su Kim, among other officials from the corporation and Oneworld member airlines.

The Oneworld lounge is located near Gate 28 on the 4th floor of Terminal 1, operating from 07:30 to 23:45. It is accessible to first/business class passengers and elite status member. With this addition, Incheon Airport now hosts lounges for all three major global airline alliances.

** Incheon Airport Lounge Overview: SkyTeam (Korean Air, China Eastern Airlines), Star Alliance (Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines), Oneworld (Oneworld Lounge).

Airport lounges are primarily operated by airlines to provide a relaxation space for their premium members. However, at hub and major airports of alliance members, directly operated services (for consistent passenger services, among other purposes) are also provided.

In the case of the Oneworld’s Incheon Airport lounge, it has garnered attention for being the world's first directly operated lounge at Incheon Airport, even though there is no national airline using Incheon as a hub. The Incheon Airport attributes this to its strategic location connecting Asia and the Americas and being recognized as one of the world’s top 3 airports capable of handling over 100 million passengers annually after completing the Phase 4 expansion project.

Thus, the corporation plans to engage in continuous discussions with Oneworld member airlines to not only provide services for passengers departing from Korea but also strategically develop the lounge as a facility for passengers transiting through Incheon Airport between oneworld member airlines in the mid to long term.

Incheon International Airport Corporation CEO Hak-Jae Lee stated, "The opening of the world's first directly operated oneworld lounge at Incheon Airport enhances the airport's hub competitiveness," adding, "Incheon Airport will continue to strengthen cooperation with oneworld and its member airlines to expand routes and enhance passenger convenience."
